Assalamu ‘Alaikum sister Sumayah.. ThanQ for this article and commenting on how to read it by splitting the Surah up.. I thought I’d add to help anyone struggling, I read an article where the sister splits reading the Surah over three days by reading 20 ayahs after every salah. May Allah make it easy on everyone to implement reading Surah Baqarah daily. Ameen

So glad you're here, Hafsa! Jazakillah Khair for watching the show and reading along. Breaking the Surah into parts makes it a lot easier to be consistent. I started with trying to read the entire thing, and it quickly became clear that it wasn't sustainable for me.

I love you, too! ❤️

May Allah love you and elevate you!

Thank you for writing this amazing article. I don’t know how I came across this but am glad I did (perhaps it would be more appropriate to say this article found me when I needed it most). I am a lawyer working on very draining cases — I represent Dr. Aafia Siddiqui (one of the worst cases of oppression the Muslim world has seen) and a lot of Americans stranded in Gaza. I’d been experiencing nonstop burnout and bouts of compassion fatigue. Reading your post has given me the idea to do a Surah Baqarah challenge with my loved ones as a way to reconnect with the Quran but also my spiritual and mental health. Thank you and may Allah reward you for passing on this benefit to others!

I started reading surah baqarah daily when a friend I knew on Facebook visited Nairobi and we decided to meet. May Allah reward her abundantly- she told me about baqarah therapy- that’s what she was calling it. Me and my sister and my other friend who was with me started reading it daily. One juz in the morning and one in the evening. My life just keeps getting better and better and the miracles almost happen immediately- it’s as if Allah is just waiting on us to connect with Him AzzaWaJal. I’ve made it a habit alhamdulillah. Now not a day goes by without me reading baqarah. Alhamdulillah.

Assalamualaikum,

I have started reading Surah Al Baqarah on April 15, and till today I completed it 47 times (somedays I would complete the surah once, some other days twice), my depression is almost gone, Alhamdulillah. Besides this, I have been praying tahajjud since March 6. Moreover, I have started reading Surah Yusuf since May 13, and till today I completed it 21 times (since last 5 days, I started reading Yusuf during the time of Tahajjud). I have a debt of 50K and that has to be cleared by July 2nd and my whole family depends on me for the expenses and as of now I don't have any job! May Allah help me!

Walaikum Assalam warahmatullah

That's amazing progress may Allah increase you.

I would add istighfar to your daily routine, it opens the doors of rizq. Also sending salawat on the Messenger pbuh in the phrasing we say in the end of our prayer.

Allahümma Salli ala Muhammadin Wa ala Aali Muhammed...

Today is Friday, Duas are answered in the last hour before Maghrib: Double down on Allah's names Al-Kareem, Al-Fattah, Ar-Razzaq and Al-Wahhab to ask for blessing in your income and wealth.

May Allah wipe out your debt completely, lift the wight off of, open doors for income and ease your affairs from where you could have never seen coming.

Salam all, I have been reading Surah Baqarah daily since November, and have experienced similar blessings. People have offered to help me, and opportunities have opened up. Some long standing issues are also beginning to resolve. 2022 was a devastating year for me, I am glad I started reading it as it made me feel secure. There is still some long standing issues I am waiting on resolving. May Allah the merciful resolve them soon, as I am running out of patience. Also, Thank you for the blowing on water tips. There is this one person who is trying to harm my family and I was feeling insecure. Now, I am thinking of doing the reciting and blowing on water practice as part of my daily routine.

Salaam Sumayah,

I just found you on here which is already a small miracle in and of itself (I was literally telling my mother in law this morning that It's been hard to find Muslimahs on Substack and that the English writing Muslimah community seems fairly small for those of us wanting to write creative non-fiction rather than children's picture books, etc.)

Then to read this - it's probably exactly what I need. Stop looking for solutions in the dunya and turn to Quran and Allah swt. I'm going to give it a shot. My Quran reading has been stalled and I've been negligent. This is my sign to get back.

Thank you! and Alhamdulillah for finding you.

SubhanAllah, i have been reflecting on the name Al-Lateef and if this isn’t the workings of Al-Lateef I don’t know what is🥺. I started memorising Surah Al-Baqarah and learning the Tafsir in November 2023. At first everything was going smoothly and I loved reading Surah Al-Baqarah more than anything because I knew what it was talking about and now thinking about it I did see a lot of blessings in my life Alhamdulillah. Sadly my memorisation took a dip after the second juz and I lost motivation to continue but I still recite the Surah whenever I can. 2 days ago I decided to start reciting again after fajr, this morning I was sooo sleepy but I kept telling myself even if it’s just a page just read, and I did. Now I see this post?🥺 SubhanAllah and when I saw it I was going to scroll past but something made me read it. SubhanAllah Alhamdulillah Alhamdulillah Alhamdulillah. Thank you soooo much for this post May Allah continue to put barakah in your knowledge.

Assalaam alaikum I am wanting advice how to break it down. If I read half a juzz it will take me around 5 days. But then what about my normal reading of the Quran.? This gets left. How do you fit it all in. I used to read 1 juzz a day but since 2 years now and the anxiety I am currently reading 1/4 juzz.

Walaikum Assalam warahmatullah, Lubna

People break the surah differently. Some read 7 pages over 7 days, others read Juz' a day and finish every three days, 10 pages every 5 days etc. I would consider committing to a smaller amount of Qur'an daily you're comfortable.

For example 7 pages of Al-Baqarah and 3 pages of your daily Qur'an. Once it becomes familiar you will read faster and have time for more pages insha'Allah. The important thing is that you're reading at all. May Allah bless it and increase it for you.

Do you recite the entire Surah every day? I had made a habit of reading 7 pages a day to complete it once a week for the last 6 months. During these ten days of Dhul Hijjah I challenged myself to read it daily - we are traveling so I could only manage to do a complete reading on ‘Arafah, but I have been doing about half of it per day. I know something is better than nothing, but do you feel you noticed the significant changes once you recite the whole Surah daily?

I initially started with the entire Surah but it wasn't sustainable with my schedule. So I break it into parts now. 2 or 3 parts. It's been the same, Alhamdulillah. Allah Kareem, it still works 😅
